Book Review: IF We Can, Why Can't You?

9th April 2009 was a remarkable day in the history of EDI.

EDI which is the only Indian institute of its kinds promoting entrepreneurship and SMEs, for the first time ever released a book on the success stories of its alumni who chose entrepreneurship as their career and made fortunes for themselves.

The book, “If we can, why can’t you?” is an amateur writing effort of the students of EDI. This book has 29 stories of EDI alumni which were edited by Dr. S. S Dash, Chairperson, PGDM-BE, EDI and Dr. Thimmappa K, Faculty, EDI. Though this book has no literary uniqueness and may not impress fiction lovers but it should be read by those who want to feel the spirit of entrepreneurship.

Life is a journey and there can’t be better educator than life itself. And there are some sign boards which give a direction to this journey. But, these signboards never come to know whether the traveller whom they showed direction has reached somewhere or not. Not many of us are able to document what we have learned from life. EDI took this initiative to know where those travellers have reached to whom they had once showed direction. The aim was to document the life experiences of the passes out students so that they can be shared with the others people who want to take similar endeavour. This attempt should also be appreciated for involving students with no writing experiences, in the process right from data collection, interpretation to writing stories.
